The Docklands Urban Beach Returns For Summer’18

In a city of skyscrapers and flashing lights – we all crave the beach every now and then, it’s normal. So look no further than London’s very own docklands!

The Urban beach is returning to the Royal Docks for its sixth year bringing sun, sand and some form of serenity when it hits our shores on July 18th – that’s right, less than 1 month to go!

I mean, we know the docklands isn’t the most scenic sometimes, but I guess we’d be mad Londoners to turn down a free trip to the beach! Well we say free, the entry is free – maybe not the DLR sadly. However, back to the highlights: sand, sand, more sand, sunshine and street food vendors! Because food is the life of the party – we’re also expecting film screens to be setting up too, and there’s even rumours of pop up classes on the beach.

So to be a true beach, we expecting swimming right? Well, the docks are open for those who wish to go swimming, but if you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie, the docks are bringing water sports to the table! We’re talking paddle-boarding, wake-boarding and paddle-board yoga too! Oh wait, no there’s more – there’s competitions! London SUP Open is the UK stop of the international Stand Up Paddle-boarding competition which is running on July 7th & 8th. So on July 28th – the dock to dock swim is inviting open-water swimmers to join in too!
